One of my favorite books by Grace Livingston Hill. A young lady in a poor neighborhood finds a baby in the foyer of her apartment building and takes care of it with the help of another tenant in the building. Eventually they find out that the real mother has passed away and the adopt it. The story ends well.My other favorite books are by Elizabeth Cadell and D E Stevenson. They are being republished on kindle now . Thanks so much.

I liked everything about this book, easy to read, very likeable characters and a good story line, Its a feel good book
A winter night, trials, tests, loneliness and sorrow. A night that changes weary hearts, a suspicious critical landlady and a precious little bundle left on the door step.
This is one of my favorites! Lives transformed as only Jesus can do. This is a Christmas story, ransomed and redeemed by His design.
I have been reading Grace Livingston Hill books since my early teens. I have never found one that I did not like and would not read again. This book was given a 5 Star rating because of the great joy I found in reading a book by a favorite author. I know that this reader will never tire of Hill books.

A charming story about a young single woman and young single man, both living in the same boarding house, who team up to save the life of a foundling baby whose mother has died. It has a few typical GLH additives (heartless landlady, genial doctor, etc) but those are familiar to, and usually loved by, her fans. As I always say, if you have read GLH books before and didn't like them; you probably won't like this one. But this is one of her better ones.
Such a sweet story of the needs of an abandoned baby bringing two abandoned adults together. Neither adult would have made overtures to the other without the Holy Spirit arranging everything. Inner certainty of what neither wants helps them to be open to charitable impulses and the unlocked for happiness of finding the right Partner.
Grace Livingston Hill's books lift your spirits high, make you joyful, glad to be alive. Written long ago they still reflect stories that could be happening now. Lessons that still apply, troubles that still happen today. I read all different types of books not just Christian literature. I like all the books in "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" series and all books by J. A. Jance and many other contemporary authors. I would give all of Grace Hill's books 5 stars, I have never been disappointed. Marilyn G
I found this a touching book although certainly not plausible in this century. A typical scenario of GLH is that of young woman that has been hit by bad luck and is trying to support herself in trying circumstances. Those that have felt ill prepared to look for work in a tough job market and worried about their future while the bank account dwindles might relate
